Julia is nine years old, and is my first grandchild. She was named after my sister's little girl, who died after an unfortunate car accident. That little Julia was named after my maternal grandmother. She was only four yrs old at the time she died. My daughters would send up balloons to her in Heaven, when ever they had them. Sherri and Jen always said, whichever of them had the first girl, she would be named Julia. My grandaughter is quite the reader! Her and I kinda had a contest to see who could finish our book first. Since none of my children ever loved to read, it really warms my heart to know she does! She has also had the chance to donate her hair to "Locks of Love" twice now. I'm sure she will be doing it again. Her latest endeavor in life is; learning to play the violin. I sure can't say her first tries were music to my ears! Maybe next time.
HOOD'S HAPPENING'S is about us two "older" (getting there) folk, and what ever we may be doing with life. Most of our time is taken up with our little girl, Miss Mindy. She has become the love of our life! You will see a lot about her here!

The Lovely Julia
Julia loves to smile for the camera,
She loves to "hang out" in the back yard,
She loves a relaxing swing in the breeze,
And, she loves to catch the baseball!

Senior Citizens, ya gotta LOVE them!
OK folks, now I have surely waited a LONG time to become a senior citizen, and let me tell you, it is SO WORTH IT! Not only do I get some super discounts here and there and everywhere, but I actually get added days to my vacations!!!! Let me explain: I made the plane reservations for Buffalo, sometime early in March. Told everyone I was going to be gone until the 8th of July. OK, so somewhere along the way, amidst all the gray hairs, batwings, and aching muscles, I lost a day! I was saying I was due to fly back to Orlando on the 7th. A few peeps in my life thought they had just forgotten the dates and went along with me as far as the 7th goes. When trying to check into my flight tonight, I was told it was to soon. To soon I thought?????? After all I am leaving on TUESDAY at 5pm! Dumb airline! Went to my original e-mail from airline, in black and white, it says, Wednesday the 8th! Hmmmmm..................Soooooooo here I am............HAPPY AS A PIG IN MUD! Now I certainly love my hubby and my little dog Bill, but am SO HAPPY to have this extra day with my kiddos!!!! I think my hubby is a weeeeeeeeeee bit upset with me. (hehe) Um.............does anyone feel that I have a problem with my brain? I DON'T! (at all)
Furry Friends
I really got a giggle out of all my friends blogs this morning! Makes me miss my little Billy:( But tomorrow he will meet me at th airport with his Daddy, and all of us will have BIG smiles! My daughter has a dog and two cats. Lacey is a black lab/beagle mix, so she is quite the petite pup. Last year she was extreamly skittish with all of us. This year, she LOVES me! She comes up to me a lot, looking for loving or food. She is really a very pretty little girl. I will miss her when I leave. (But I won't miss her barking when her Daddy gets home). Then, there are the two cats, snowball and kiki. Kiki just stays mostly out of every ones way and likes to sneak out the door when I open it. She is also a cat that likes to bite your feet sometimes, if she is in the mood. OUCH! So far, so good this year, no bites for me! Now Snowball on the other hand, is very sociable. She goes up to everyone for some loving. I left my bedroom door open one night, and got woken up to her sniffing around my face. That was a bit scary at first, hehe, but then I realized what and who it was. I found out a few months ago that I probably am allergic to cats. Now after spending a week here, I am wondering if it was just the cat box that I am allergic to. (I had to clean one at a caregiver job, and was quite ill afterward) No cleaning cat boxes for me EVER AGAIN!
It is off to Darien Lake Park for me and the family today. LOTS OF FUN! Can't wait to post some pics when I get home! Much love to all my friends and their fur babies!

Things Have Sure Turned Around!
I am sitting here laughing to myself as the two daughters are just outside this room, bickering about how to do the laundry. Me? I just dumped my few things by the washer and walked away. (hehe). Let one of them take care of it. (hehe) I actually LOVE doing laundry, always have, and never have considered letting someone else do it for me. This is truly a first! I normally would fight for the use of the washing machine! NO ONE can do laundry as WELL AS ME! NO ONE! Just maybe that is not so true anymore. After all my daughters are 39 and 36 yrs old. I think they probably have enough years of experiance under their belts by now. They should be at least half as good as me at this job by now. Being half as good will suffice for this week,(hehe). As I age, I find myself gettin less OCD about different tasks I have to do. Too much of my life was spent striving for perfection. In the process, I probably lost out at a lot of good times. Life is just to short (at my age), to worry about such mundane things as the laundry getting perfectly washed. Besides, it really is a lot MORE FUN, listening to the girls doing it for me!

Ladies Only!
Today is Ladies Day! We three are going to get pampered with manicures and pedicures! I have never had a pedicure. It sounds LOVELY! To bad we can't spend an entire day at a spa. Maybe someday.

HE HE HE,
Sure wish I could post a pic of what I did to "THAT CLOCK"! Once I get home, I may do just that. We didn't do much yesterday, but went and played Bingo in the evening. I did not win, but both the girls won a little bit. Lucky them. We are going to Borders to get the kids some books today, (they both LOVE to read). I have a gift card to spend there........FUN! Going to Ted's for lunch. That is the home of the "footlong" and "curly" fries. YUM! After that, getting stuff for a good old fashion Polish meal later this week with my sis. We are not Polish, but were brought up on few different Polish dishes that we all love! My son, Clint, called from Iraq this AM. It was so good for all of us to be able to speak with him. He thought the grand kids sure sounded grown up. So we also are going to make up a package to send to him this week. Weather has not been the greatest, raining on and off, but sure is a lot cooler for me anyway. Hope it is good for fireworks this weekend!

Things that go bump in the night!
Sometimes, it is just very hard to get to sleep! Especially in a different bed, a different house, a different state, I could go on and on with that, but won't. I went to bed around midnight. It was difficult for awhile to relax, and just as I started to fall asleep, I heard a little tune playing.....somewhere. OK, cute, but a bit annoying. About 15 mins later, it happened again! As tired as I was (OK, lazy) I decided not to get out of bed to investigate. A long while (maybe) passed, and suddenly, I heard wee little voices talking along with the music. Still, could not drag myself out of bed to see where this noise was coming from. Guess I FINALLY fell asleep, when all kinds of laughter and music and voices were surrounding me! (dreaming?) As I FELL out of my grandsons bed, I realized my sleep was being interrupted by a FISHER PRICE CLOCK! I started pressing all the buttons to get it to stop. It was saying, "IT IS 3 AM." Yeah OK so it is 3am, so shut up now! I felt like I was reverting back to my short fuse days! FINALLY, I must have hit the correct button, and all was QUIET! AHHH back to bed, Sweet dreams! I swear, if this THING start again tonight, I just may TOSS it out the window! Grandchildren.......did they have anything to do with this?
