A Walking Stick

One evening, while enjoying a cool fall breeze outside, I discovered a new "Backyard Friend"! Of course I had to run and get my trusty little camera! I proceeded to take a number of photos of this odd, quite large, 4in, insect. At first, I thought it was a great little mommy, just carrying her baby on her back. As it turns out, I have since been told, This is a Walking Stick and that is a male on her back, doing his thing!  Well! I have always said I needed to learn something new every day of my life. I prefered the baby story myself!

That is amazing! Learn something new every day! But oh my, the female is so much bigger in size - must be amazon female walking stick kind! (Don't let a real "bug" person hear me say that!)

Ms G what a great shot and biology lesson. LOL
I've never seen a walking stick in person.
Animals are amazing.

Mom and I got a chuckle out of the Lion King Being your phone ring tone. Recently one of the local radio stations changed their format to playing all hits in all genres of music.
I've been getting a lot of my song ideas from listening to it. Do you remember Duke of Earl
Mom is thinking about doing Duchess of Earl.

I've actually seen walking sticks mating before. She is one big mama for such a little guy.
