A Super Prize For Me, And YOU!

Last month, I had the opportunity to make a comment, at Peggy's Pet Place, in order to win a prize. (http://peggyfrezon.blogspot.com/)  The first prize for the contest, was this book, "A Dog's Purpose" by W. Bruce Cameron. Well, I won it! It is a story of one dog's search for his purpose, over the course of several lives. About a week later the book was in my hands! I proceded to start reading it and unfortunately had to put it down a few times, to eat, go to sleep, etc. I really just wanted to finish it, cause it was so endearing! It made me laugh and then cry all in a few minutes time. You too can win this book, cause now, I would like to "Pay it Forward"! All you have to do, is make a comment on my blog during the next two days, about what you think, a dogs purpose is! I will have a friend pick out their favorite comment from what you all submit. So get to it friends, cause I highly reccomend this book to read! Make sure you check out Peggy's blog too. She has a lot of good hints and stories to share with all of you!

A dogs purpose...well, I think God gave us dogs so we can more clearly understand the purity of well...God Himself. Dogs (and cats and horses...all animals) don't have sin within them; only we humans have that nasty trait. Animals - in this case dogs - are pure...just as God is pure. I think He is giving us just a little glimpse of Him though having these lovely creatures to welcome into our lives. I mean...don't we see it each time we look into their loving eyes?
I just lost my dear love July 16th...I miss him every day but what he gave me lives on...just as I know he lives on in God's kingdom. (You can see a photo of my dear Harry under "personal" on my blog.)And I think that purity of soul is the reason dogs don't live that long either...they are just too good for this world!!
This was a really good question. Thanks for asking!

When I think of a dog's purpose, I am reminded of one of my favorite quotes:

My goal in life is to be as good of a person my dog already thinks I am.

Great idea to PIF!

What a great idea! I think my purpose is to love my family and friends and cheer on the Vikings....and that's all I have to say about that....

Hi Gloribee, this is Jackie Shipe. I didn't know how to log in . I think God gave us dogs for the purpose of having unconditional love. He could have let them get that wild instinct like most all the other animals did at the fall of man, but He didn't. They are just a special gift from Him just because. (Now a cat's purpose is to show us what arrogance is) :)

dog is GOD spelled backward! dogs are always in your face ,loving you, never ignoring you, interested in every little thing you do, and never stop loving you for one single minute, even if you ignore them!

I think each dog in creation has its own purpose. One dog's purpose is different than another dog's purpose. Rowdy's purpose was to give comfort and companionship to my dad when my mother passed away and now Rowdy's purpose has been to give me comfort since my dad passed away. I can't imagine a life without him.

Well I think the purpose of a Dog is just this a dog loves you unconditional no matter what you look like without makeup or what your wearing, how much money you have, how many toys he has, doesnt care if you have NEW friends like a human being does. He has No cares in the world except that he loves you for WHO you ARE!!!!! Love Jen & Jake

Trel says: I have to agree with all of the above comments. I didn't even like dogs until May 2004 and then there was Coco. She has taught me how to be more compassionate, to look at life differently. By her giving me love she receives love. Her purpose was to teach me that in giving love you can't help but receive love. She also makes the best heating pad on my lower back by laying next to my back while we are sleeping.

Tootie would say that a dog's purpose is to be loved. I think that's all she really wants in life. Well, that and food. LOL
