Oh No! Is that my mom, coming to take me off my fave blankie? I heard her mention earlier, I was having a bad hair day.
HOOD'S HAPPENING'S is about us two "older" (getting there) folk, and what ever we may be doing with life. Most of our time is taken up with our little girl, Miss Mindy. She has become the love of our life! You will see a lot about her here!

How to hold a baby.................?
In this pic, I am learning how to hold a baby alligator. Now I would never have thought I would want to do this. It is just another courageous act of a 60 yr old. As I get older and older, I enjoy trying things that would never have even entered my mind before. This little guy was actually quite cute! Of course I can say that, considering he has a band around his mouth. Hmmm.....wonder what I will try next?

He Loves Me!
Remember when we were young, and we would pick off the daisy petals, saying, he loves me, he loves me not? I really have to giggle when I think of how many times I have done exactly that, right up into my adult life. I use to think, as a child, that there was truth in this silly game. As I have aged, I have learned that there is someone that really loves me! And I don't even have to pick the petals off a flower to know that is true! Our God truly loves me! And you, and you and even you! He tells me, or shows me, every day that He loves me, in one form or another. I might see His love in a baby's sweet smile. Or in a lovely rainbow. Or in the happiness of my dog when I return home. Or a beautiful field of lovely flowers. I could write a book on how He shows me He loves me. Even, after spending four hours in an ER, finding out why I am having such pain in my back, I see, He loves me! I have to say this was the best ER visit I ever had in my life! My doctor called ahead, I got right in without waiting one minute. You see, the thought was, that I had a kidney stone, and my doctor was concerned about kidney function, as I had been so long in pain. (since Saturday). First thing that happened, I met a young man, named Josh, (14), who was volunteering at the hospital for the summer. Was he ever a kind, thoughtful, and caring young man. He already had the bedside manner of a seasoned physician. Very intelligent too! When I first heard the words "you need to go to the ER" I was scared and practically crying. But after meeting Josh, I started feeling calm, and very at peace. All my anxiety just disappeared. Was God speaking through Josh to help me? I believe so, because that is how He works. We just don't always open up our eyes and ears enough, to see Him. Josh, with God's help, set the scene for the rest of my day. The CT scan showed no stone. The x-rays showed no misaligned bones. So apparently, it is a swollen muscle, affecting a nerve. Thank you Lord, that it wasn't more serious! And thank you for opening my eyes to see how you are working in today's youth.

Praying For Stellan
I am praying without ceasing for Stellan. On the upper right hand corner of my blog, you will see a button with Stellan's picture. If you click on this button, it will take you directly to his mother's blog, My Charming Kids. Stellan has had a heart condition since before he was even born. I have been following his story for many months now. Stellan has again hit a huge bump in his young life. So please click on the "praying for Stellan" button, and read about his life, his extremely courageous mom, and the rest of his family. Her blog will show you how God has been, and still is, working in their lives. It is guaranteed to bring you to your knees.
Fireworks In Florida
Living about 20 minutes from all the Attractions, we hear fireworks every evening, at 8pm, and at 9 or 10 pm. (depending what time of year it is). Ralph and I just happened to visit Epcot one Christmas season. Epcot, has the best fireworks out of all the parks. Here are some shots taken from the same vantage point, behind some palm trees. Those trees really set the scene in most of the pictures.

One of my little dog friends, Sasha, inspired my blog today. Here is Billy in his new jammies this past December, looking so adorable. unfortunately, he always gets his hind legs free, and walks around with the jammies hanging all askew. We never even opened the blue pair we got also. What we do with our dogs!!

My Fave Brother
I had the chance to finally get to the flower show at Epcot last year. It was everything I expected it to be. My most favorite plant, was this one depicting my brother, Goofy. Yes.......he is my bro! If you really knew me.........you would believe this. In fact he is my twin! Well.......not on the outside, or even as far as age goes (he is MUCH older), but we talk and act alike and both of us are very loving. I have collected Disney Pins since I moved to Florida, only of Goofy, of course. Now the lanyard is small enough to hang somewhere in what ever RV we decide to buy. So even if Ralph thinks I am silly, I will sneak it on board. HeHe. After all, my brother has ALWAYS been able to make me laugh, no matter what kind of mood I'm in.

The "OLD" Guy!
This is my hubby Ralph, I refer to him as the old guy, as he is six yrs older than me. But in spite of his age, he can still think kinda young, not as much as me though, hehe. He talks A LOT! I have never met a guy that talks as much as he does. It can be very hard to get a word in edgewise. On Sept. 11th, we will have been married five years. We are having the most fun together right now, planning our RVing future. We each want a different type of RV, but thats ok. I will probably let him have his way, cause otherwise he will talk my ear off even more. Anybody know what the best kind of earplugs are? Something that doesn't hurt my ears? Even though he has this one bad flaw (hehe), I love him very much! I am a very lucky woman to have Ralph in my life!

What Goes Around, Comes Around!
This is my youngest child, Gregory, with his son Ayden. Greg was quite an imp when he was a little boy. He made us laugh all the time. You never knew what he was going to say or do next, and always kept me on my toes. It was not an easy job to stay one step ahead of him. What is really funny, is that now, he has a son that not only looks just like him as a little boy, but acts just like he did. Of course, Grammie is just laughing her butt off, cause payback is a B-T-H!

The Boy in the Sandbox!
The "Boy", aka Clint, called today. He has one month left in Iraq, then one month in Kuwait guarding the Strykers, then back to FT WainWright AK. The year seems to have gone pretty fast. Then Oct. 12, he flies to MA. His and Noelle's "BIG" wedding takes place on Oct 24th. I can't wait to see him again!

Old Age is Courageous!
Courageous did I say? Heck no! I let a young-un talk me into this ride. She has a pick shirt on, but I won't mention any names Jennifer........
My Husband, The Artist!
My husband, Ralph, is: Retired Navy, Retired Post Office, and an Artist! What will we do with all his paintings, when we go RVing? Some are in storage already. The bottom two are much smaller, and we will probably put them in the RV. The bigger ones? In storage also, I guess. He has sold a lot, but still has about twenty more. Can only give so many to the kids, lol

My Favorite Flower
Gladiolas are one of my most favorite flowers! We planted some bulbs this spring, and I have been anxiously waiting for them to bloom. Some of the plants were eaten by a neighborhood rabbit. Some, just haven't even bloomed at all. I took this picture the day before I left on vacation, believing it may not still be around when I got back. I was right! No more pretty Glads :(

I Know You Have All Been Waiting
This what I ended up doing with it! OUT WITH THE TRASH! I thought about taking it with me on the "Mind Eraser" ride, as it was making me lose my mind!
I thought about drowning it at the water park!
I thought about throwing it in this bonfire!
I thought........maybe the bunny would enjoy it more than me!
I thought about sending it up with the rockets red glare!
I thought about letting it get run over by the John Deer (and my son in law)!
I even thought about hanging it from this tree! (But I like the tree to much)
Thank goodness I only thought about doing all these things! I actually took it out of the trash and put it in the kids playroom. It continued to speak only to me, during my entire stay. At least it was no longer in the bedroom I was sleeping in!!!!!! Fisher Price.....did you give this toy to my grandson when he tested some of your other toys??? Curses on you FP, if you did!

Joey looks so innocent, Thats a laugh! He loves his big sister so much!
ZOOM, ZOOM, ZOOM on everything he takes for a ride.
And has a ton of silly faces!
Joey is six yrs old and going into first grade. He astounded me this past week with the way he reads so well. He, like his sister, loves his books. One day he actually took along a Bible in the car and was reading to us from it. He has at least a million books, well maybe not that many. He looks kinda like my oldest son Clint, when he was little, but acts like my younger son Greg. You just never know what he is going to do or say next. He has us laughing all day and into our dreams at night!

The Lovely Julia
Julia loves to smile for the camera, She loves to "hang out" in the back yard,
She loves a relaxing swing in the breeze,
And, she loves to catch the baseball!
Julia is nine years old, and is my first grandchild. She was named after my sister's little girl, who died after an unfortunate car accident. That little Julia was named after my maternal grandmother. She was only four yrs old at the time she died. My daughters would send up balloons to her in Heaven, when ever they had them. Sherri and Jen always said, whichever of them had the first girl, she would be named Julia. My grandaughter is quite the reader! Her and I kinda had a contest to see who could finish our book first. Since none of my children ever loved to read, it really warms my heart to know she does! She has also had the chance to donate her hair to "Locks of Love" twice now. I'm sure she will be doing it again. Her latest endeavor in life is; learning to play the violin. I sure can't say her first tries were music to my ears! Maybe next time.
